Rangers International FC of Enugu has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Super Falcons of Nigeria over their triumphant victory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Rabat, Morocco.
The Nigerian senior women’s national team secured their record 10th WAFCON title on Saturday, overcoming host nation Morocco in a thrilling 3-2 final.
General Manager of Rangers, Barrister Amobi Ezeaku, conveyed the club’s felicitations, praising the Super Falcons’ resilience and never-say-die spirit.
He said, “On behalf of the Rangers family, we felicitate with the Super Falcons and their coaches, the NFF executive board led by Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau; the NSC board led by Alhaji Shehu Dikko; stakeholders of the game and the entire country for the golden feat displayed by our country’s senior national female football team,” Ezeaku stated.
A massage made available to Sports Writers on Sunday by the club’s spokesman, Comrade Norbert Okolie, said, “the result showed the never say die spirit of every Nigerian footballer and we join in this joyous moment.”
The Super Falcons demonstrated remarkable comeback power in the final. After conceding two first-half goals within the opening twenty-five minutes to Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak and Sanaa Mssoudy, Nigeria roared back.
Goals from Esther Okoronkwo, Folashade Ijamilusi, and Joe Echegini completed the dramatic turnaround, sealing an emphatic victory and sending the Nigerian contingent into jubilation.
