The Honourable Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh on Tuesday, commended the Governing Board and management staff of NEDC while inspecting major projects executed and ongoing by the commission in Borno State.

The minister also promised that all the major capital projects initiated by the North East Development Commission (NEDC) would be executed and completed within the time frame as scheduled with high quality and standard.

Engr. Momoh further commended the Managing Director of NEDC, Mohammed Goni Alkali, and his team for their commitment, dedication and impressive execution people oriented infrastructural facilities that have direct impact on the people who have been ravaged by the insurgency and flood disaster.

He assured that the ministry of regional development Co aider it a responsibility to implement critical development projects across the state while noting that the commission’s efforts are in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda which aimed at rebuilding and revitalizing of the North East region.

Speaking to journalists at the new NEDC multi billion headquarters building under construction in Maiduguri, Hon. Momoh emphasized in the need and significance of the projects he visited, which include the 1,000 housing units at Ngwom, 47 km bowl road network and drainage network connecting Zamanbari, Hadamari, Gongolon Limanti, koshebe, Ngoma and other rural communities to boost farming, fishing and other occupations of the residents of the areas.

According to him, the infrastructure projects he inspected were well designed to stimulate economic growth and improve access as well as connectivity in the state and region at large

The Minister also inspected the ongoing construction work of the NEDC Borno State Office, the Regional Head Office an 8-storey administrative complex, and an innovative electric mobility charging station(solar recharge g center) for tricycles and town service vehicles and buses which the commission has ordered to be supported for onward distribution and usage to the six states of the region.

According to him, the projects are expected to enhance institutional capacity and promote environmentally sustainable infrastructure.

He also reaffirmed the Federal Ministry of Regional Development’s continued support for the NEDC while reiterating Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the North East, promoting and ensuring lasting peace and development in the region and Nigeria at large.
