‎The ancient Palace of the Lamido Adamawa was on Friday, caught up in a frenzy of celebration as thousands of friends, associates, and family members of Mallam Nuhu Ribadu converged to celebrate his investiture with the traditional title of Sardauna Adamawa.

‎The historic event drew dignitaries from across the country, including Minister of Livestock, Idi Maiha, former Minister of FCT, Musa Bello and North East National Vice Chairman of APC, Mustapha Salihu amongst thousands others, underscoring Ribadu’s rising profile both in public service and within traditional institutions.

‎Despite an early morning downpour, the palace and its environs were flooded with politicians, professionals, captains of industry, community leaders, youth groups, and women associations, all eager to express their solidarity with the Adamawa Emirate and their admiration for Ribadu.

‎Speakers at the ceremony described the title of Sardauna as one of the most prestigious in the emirate, reserved for individuals whose lives exemplify leadership, integrity, and service to humanity. They said Ribadu’s record in public service, coupled with his immense contributions to peace and community development, made him a natural choice for the honour.

‎Family members of the new Sardauna expressed profound appreciation to the Lamido Adamawa, His Royal Highness Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha for what they called a recognition of both Ribadu’s personal achievements and the legacy of the Ribadu family within the emirate.

‎Delivering a heartfelt speech on behalf of the Ribadu family, Alhaji Bashir Sulaiman Ribadu recalled the long-standing ties between the Adamawa Emirate and the Ribadu lineage.

‎ “We the descendants of Alkali Atiku Ribadu, gathered here with friends and associates to register our gratitude for this title bestowed on our son, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu. Though he could not attend personally due to the demands of his office, he asked us to convey his happiness and humility at this recognition.

‎”This is not the first time our family has been honoured by this royal house. From the days of Lamido Zubairu, when our forefather Sarki Turawa was honoured, to Lamido Aliyu Mustapha’s conferment of the title of Dangaladima on Ambassador Ahmadu Ribadu, our ties have remained strong. Today’s conferment on Nuhu Ribadu is another testament to this enduring relationship,” he said.

‎Bashir noted that the title was not just a personal honour but the highest recognition Ribadu had received at home, especially given his current role as National Security Adviser (NSA), where he has contributed significantly to stabilizing security in Nigeria.

‎Representing the Lamido, the Secretary of the Adamawa Emirate Council, Alhaji Umar Yahaya, said the choice of Ribadu was deliberate and symbolic.

‎ “The task of the NSA is daunting, involving relentless battles against terrorism and insecurity. Yet Ribadu has distinguished himself as a dogged fighter, a pacesetter, and a patriotic son of Adamawa. This honour is not just for him but for his entire family, and we pray Allah strengthens him in his responsibilities,” he stated.
