The combined efforts of security forces of the Police and the Military in a joint operation, rescued eight kidnapped passengers in Kogi on the Okene-Auchi road last Saturday.

Information reaching our correspondent has it that dare devil bandits in their regalia kidnapped 23 passengers on the Okene-Auchi express road.

The kidnappers attacked a big bus with the inscription ‘Big Joe Ventures Ltd’ Toyota Hiace commuter Bus (Edo FUG 13 XY) on the Okene-Auchi road on the said day.

According to the information, majority of the passengers were young lawyers returning from Abuja on their way back to Auchi when their journey was truncated by the marauding beasts, who demanded N100 million per head.

The Kogi State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Williams Ayah has already confirmed the trending news of the fate of the kidnapped victims.

According to him, during the incident, the kidnappers abducted all 12 passengers commuting from Abuja to Benin in Edo State.

His words, “Subsequently, the DPO Okene Div CSP Nasir Muhammad immediately mobilised police personnel in conjunction with military and vigilantes in pursuit of the kidnappers.

“In the process, eight victims, including the driver, were rescued while efforts are still underway to rescue the remaining four victims and to make possible the arrest of the perpetrators”.
