The Kogi State Senator representing Kogi West in the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly, Senator Steve Karimi has promised to disburse three hundred million Naira to students across the three senatorial districts of the state.
To the Senator, “this is what we are going to do and it has started already as my bond of service to the people remains intact and unchanged”.
The lawmaker said that he remains committed to bringing more developmental projects and democratic benefits to the people of Kogi West.
The Kogi West Senator at a media parley in Lokoja to mark his two years in the red chamber at the weekend, said that N100m will go to the sister eastern senatorial district, about N65,000 will be expended on students from the Central Senatorial District, while the rest will account for the expenses in the home district.
” I’m also working with Titcombe College Old Students Association, my Alma mata, to convert their old Library into Computer Based Test Centre (CBT)”, he said.
According to the Distinguished Senator, this is in order to stop citizens from not less than five local government areas in Kogi West from risking their lives traveling to Ajaokuta, Ilorin and other parts of Kwara State and even Niger State for Joint Admissions Board Exams.
The centre, he said, will also serve the citizens from neighbouring states like Kwara and Ekiti, in collaboration with Tinubu’s Support Project.
“My investment in the centre will cost me not less than N160m aside the funding from the School Alumni Association” he said, adding that his part of funding includes but not limited to provision of fresh 275 number laptops for the New centre. (already delivered)
” I’m also carrying out the rehabilitation of water system in the school and connection of water system to the CBT Centre at the cost of N250 million Naira as well as provision of Internet connections, expansions and cablings.
” Similarly my intervention in the school includes the provision of 43.5kva Generator set in the Centre as well as other finishing work and accessories.
The centre is to be ready by August 2025 and it is borne out of my desire to make an enduring impact on the people and improve access to quality education, the Senator asserted.
It would be recalled that Sen. Karimi in 2024, gave out N100m scholarship to Kogi West Students, said under the new arrangement, his N300m intervention will cut across the entire State, describing President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s passion for the development of the country as unprecedented.
