A lifeless body of a young woman who was discovered in the early hours of Thursday in a gutter on Udok Street, off Barracks Road in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, has continued to create shock to residents of the area and environs as the cause of the death is unknown.
It became more worrisome as there were no visible signs of violence on her body, except for traces of foam coming from her nose, raising questions about what might have led to her death.
A resident of the area, who preferred his name not mentioned in print, said that they woke up in the morning to see the lifeless body that nobody was able to know exactly how she died.
Police Public Relations Officer for the Akwa Ibom State Command, DSP Timfon John, who confirmed the incident, said the victim’s identity was revealed through her National Identification Number found at the scene.
She added that investigations are ongoing, and the public will be updated as more information becomes available.
Meanwhile, the corpse has been taken to the hospital
