Social Workers from across Nigeria under the platform of Nigeria Association of Social Workers (NASoW) are to converge on Osogbo for the golden anniversary of NASoW and 40th national conference of the association.
This was made known on Sunday by the association’s National President, Alh. Mashood Mustapha in a statement, made available to journalists through the National Public Relations Officer of the association, Mr Musliudeen Adebayo.
Alhaji Mustapha disclosed that the two in one events are expected to take place between October 14 and 18, 2025 and that the events are expected to take place at Leisure Spring Hotel, Olusegun Obasanjo Way, Osogbo, Osun State.
He noted that the events with the theme “Strengthening Intergenerational Solidarity for Enduring Wellbeing” will be used by social workers in the country to reflect, reconnect, and reimagine the future of social work in Nigeria
” The Nigeria Association of Social Workers (NASoW) is using this medium to inform Social Workers in Nigeria and those in the Diaspora that the golden jubilee anniversary and 40th National Conference and Annual General Meeting tagged Osogbo 2025 is scheduled to hold in October this year. Registration for the Conference and AGM has commenced, he said.
Alhaji Mustapha added, “The theme of this event is “Strengthening Intergenerational Solidarity for Enduring Wellbeing” and it will afford us the opportunity to come together to reflect, reconnect, and reimagine the future of social work in Nigeria as we celebrate 50 years of impact, service, and growth”.
“We are expecting participants locally and internationally to attend the conference which will be hybrid. This is in line with the new normal and global best practices. The venue of the conference is Leisure Spring Hotel, Olusegun Obasanjo Way, Osogbo, Osun state”.
According to the National President, ” Registration for the conference is ongoing, we are using this opportunity to inform the participants to register for the conference before the closing date”.
Stressing that the events will afford social workers within and outside the country the opportunity to interact, share ideas and knowledge, career opportunities both at home and overseas and other related issues, he said the events will be an opportunity to celebrate 50 years of impact, service, and growth of the association in the country.
He maintained that expected participants at the conference include professional social workers working with NGOs, hospitals, private practice, schools, ministries, agencies and departments offering social welfare services, social work lecturers from institutions offering social work/social development courses, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students of social work home and in the diaspora.
