Following a gun shot attack on students during the Students’ Union Government (SUG) election at Ebonyi State University, no fewer than three persons have been arrested in connection to the gunshot attack.

According to Ebonyi State Police Command,the Police (PPRO), Joshua Ukandu, the suspects were arrested in connection with an attempt to disrupt the announcement of results during the SUG election at the university.

It was gathered that the incident occurred when the suspects allegedly fired gunshot to disperse the crowd, while the election results were being announced.

The bullet struck a student, who was immediately rushed to the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki for medical treatment.

He noted that swift response by police operatives on the ground, led to the arrest of the suspects and also recovered a locally made pistol used in the act.
