Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has extended its Special Eid-al-Kabir train operations by adding extra trips to Abuja-Kaduna and Lagos-Ibadan routes.
Information provided by the Corporation on Saturday explained that the decision to extend the trips was taken “in response to the exceptional surge in turnout during the Eid-al-Kabir celebration.”
NRC will therefore operate additional special train services across its major standard gauge corridors on Monday 9th June, 2025.
“This follows the success of earlier special trips on Thursday 5th June, which witnessed full bookings and high commuter traffic,” Ag. Deputy Director, Public Relations (Ag DDPR) of NRC, Callistus Unyimadu, said.
Unyimadu stated that the extra trips were meant to ease return journey for those who travelled during the festival.
The schedule of the trips for Monday 9th June, 2025 is as follows: Lagos-Ibadan 8.00 A.M., with 1.55 P.M. additional trip, and 4.00 P.M.

“The move reflects the Corporation’s responsiveness to public needs and dedication to delivering efficient, safe and timely rail services,” Managing Director of NRC, Kayode Opeifa, clarified.
He said: “We are pleased with the public’s response to our special services. These additional trips are part of our commitment to meeting the growing demand for rail mobility.”
The Nigerian Railway Corporation’s management advised passengers to arrive early at the stations for security screening and boarding, and stressed that departures are “strictly on schedule.”
In addition, passengers were told to complete their online booking in advance.
