Transportation Correspondents Association of Nigeria (TCAN) has said that to achieve sustainable evolution in Nigeria’s transport sector, all stakeholders have to speak with one voice in order to optimize the opportunities inherent in the system.

TCAN chairman, Mr. Tola Adenubi, expressed the view while shedding light on the forthcoming 2nd edition of transport summit organized by his association.

He said, “For Nigeria’s transportation to evolve all stakeholders must come together, speak with one voice to optimize the opportunities in our transport system.

“Whether as an operator, regulator or investor, all players are relevant stakeholders in driving the logistics value chain to improve the living standards of Nigerians.”

Minister of Transportation as well as the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy have confirmed that they will participate in the summit which will come up on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.

The summit is an annual event that provides a platform for stakeholders’ interaction on pertinent issues affecting the nations transport sector.

This year’s event is the second edition of the summit, which was kick-started in year 2024 amidst excitement and endorsement from stakeholders.

This second edition has as its theme, “Driving the Transport Logistics Value Chains for Economic Growth”.

Managing Director of Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Dr. Kayode Opeifa, will deliver the keynote address on the occasion.

There will be panels of discussants featuring topics like: Intermodal Cargo Evacuation from the Past: Benefits and Challenges; Waterways Transportation Code and Challenges of Enforcement; 100 Years of Aviation in Nigeria – Gains and Missed Opportunities; as well as Maritime Insecurity: Effects, Implications on Trade Route.

Agencies and stakeholders that will participate in the summit are: Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria (CIOTA), Dangote Industries Limited, Trucks Transit Park (TTP), among others.

The summit is an annual forum for all transport industry major players, regulators and other stakeholders to brainstorm on burning national issues and collectively proffer workable solutions.

Speaking further on the conference, the Chairman of TCAN, Mr. Tola Adenubi, expressed satisfaction with the interest and commitment shown by the stakeholders towards the success of the maiden event.

“We are thrilled by the interest this summit has generated and we are convinced that the summit would galvanize actions towards addressing the challenges of Nigeria’s transport logistics value chain,” he stressed in a statement provided on Sunday.

The TCAN leader advised stakeholders, especially organisations and companies in the transportation industry, to take advantage of the summit in show-casing their organisations’ efforts and roles in Nigeria’s logistics chain development.

TCAN is made up of journalists from the major national newspapers, television and online media platforms covering the transport sector. It is also a subgroup of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
