The video of train fire which is circulating at present on Social Media, particularly on Facebook, “occurred over three years ago along Warri-Itakpe rail corridor,” the management of Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has clarified.
NRC made the clarification in a statement titled, “”NRC Debunks Circulating Video of Train Fire – Incident Occurred Over Three Years Ago.’ Chief Public Relations Officer of NRC, Callistus Unyimadu, issued the statement on Sunday 20th July 2025.
He said, “We urge the general public to desist from sharing outdated or misleading content, as such actions only serve to incite unnecessary fear, panic and misinformation.
“The circulation of false or outdated information undermines public trust and national development and should be strongly discouraged.”
The Corporation assured passengers that it is committed to their safety, comfort and improved service delivery. “We continue to enhance our operations in line with international best practices and global safety standards,” the chief public relations officer stated.
