Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, (LP) in the 2023 general elections, Mr Peter Obi on Sunday, declared that there is the need for leadership that is committed in turning out society around.
Speaking during his visit to the Olubadan-designate, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja at his Ondo Street House old Bodija, Mr Peter Obi said Nigeria needs selfless leadership.
He pointed out that his visit to Oba Ladoja, “is about Nigeria, selfless leadership, leadership that is committed in turning out society around”.
Mr Peter Obi maintained that he came to pay homage to the Olubadan-designate because Ibadan is very strategic and central to the political, social and economic development of Nigeria.
“Ibadan is very strategic and central to the development of Nigeria. As a former governor, senator, business tycoon, he will have all what he needs to succeed”, he said.
The former Presidential candidate added, “And I will support him as Olubadan for the sake of one Nigeria. Most of the schools in Ibadan, University of Ibadan for example, were attended by many people from different parts of Nigeria and they are making it in all areas of human endeavors”.
Mr Peter Obi stated this in Ibadan during his visit to the Olubadan-designate, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja at his Ondo Street House old Bodija.
Welcoming Mr Peter Obi, Oba Ladoja disclosed that the Olubadan throne is about service to humanity and not for glamour, adding that many people erroneously belief that the Olubadan throne is for glamour.
Oba Ladoja pointed out that he sees his appointment as Olubadan of Ibadanland as another opportunity to serve the humanity.
“I see my appointment as the Olubadan as another opportunity to serve the humanity. Many people erroneously belief that the throne is for glamour”, he said
The Olubadan designate added, “The time of glamour is gone. In contemporary period, it is about service. What do you have on the table for the people in society. People talk of Imperial Majesty where is the empire?
“Even the empire where the sun never set, where is it today? It is about service to humanity. This is why I have told our Mogajis (family heads) to go back to their ancestral homes to mentor generations of young elements, that they can become whatever God want them to be even from that environment”.
