Some Nigerians who were deported from Libya and Nigerian Republic have revealed the dehumanizing treatment received from those countries before bundled in plane for Kano.
They revealed this on Tuesday, when the Kano State Commissioner, Public Complaints Commission (PCC), Honourable Ibrahim Zakari Sarina engaged with the representatives of the deported migrants from Libya, Niger and other countries that channeled their complaints to the commission.
Sarina after listening, assured that PCC would continue to promote peace and unity through reconciliation and public engagements for better livelihood.
Honourable Zakari Sarina told the deported migrants that the commission will do it’s best to make sure that justice is done to makes them comfortable.
He stated that ” We are working selflessly to promoted peace and unity through public-organisational engagements in order to ensure that every side is coopted to ensure that there is good understanding and resolutions so as to curtail injustice”.
Sarina stressed that migration from one place to another is something that is under rules and regulations, therefore, it is advisable for migrants to follow due process whenever they decide to travel near or far.
He assured that, “our commission is always ready to receive public complaints in order to address it amicably and we have achieved a lot in our previous actions, and I am of the opinion that your issue would also be resolved as we received the city is your complains”.
Narrating their ordeal, Sirajo Dauda Mohammed from Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State disclosed that they suffered at the hands of authorities at Libya and Niger Republic before getting asylum at the International Organisation for Migrants (IOM) as a result of their deportation to Kano.
“We were captured, tortured and treated like animals, especially in the Niger Republic before flying us to Kano where we decided to lodge our complaints at the Public Complaints Commission Kano where we are enjoying excellent treatment”. He emphasized.
Malam Sirajo told the commissioner that, ” We are duly registered to benefit from the IOM gesture and we were issued with ATM cards to withdraw some certain amount credited to our various accounts, but we found out that only ten thousand Naira was credited to each one of us, which is a breach of promise from either the international organisation for immigrants or from the Nigerian Embassy in Niger Republic.
He called on the Public Complaints Commission under the dynamic leadership of Honourable Ibrahim Zakari Sarina and his experienced management team to assist them and ensure that their entitlements are paid as regulated by the IOM.
