The Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), Kaduna State Chapter has successfully hosted the North West Youth Security and Peace Summit alongside the official inauguration and swearing-in of elected officials of the YAN Kaduna State Chapter.

A statement signed by the National Deputy Speaker, Amb. Umaru Bala Babayaro, made available on Monday, said that the historic event took place on Saturday September 13, 2025, at Arewa House, Kaduna, under the theme, “Building a Secure North-West: Strengthening Civil-Military Cooperation for Sustainable Unity and Peace.”

The summit brought together key stakeholders, youth leaders, and security experts to chart a new course for sustainable peace, security, and youth engagement across the North West Zone.

In recognition of his visionary leadership and commitment to youth development, the Assembly honoured His Excellency, Senator Uba Sani, Executive Governor of Kaduna State, with the Youth Friendly Governor of the Year 2025 Award.

The award was received on his behalf by Dr. Sule Shu’aibu SAN, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, and presented by Dr. Fauziya Ado Buhari, National Matron of YAN.

The Assembly further decorated distinguished personalities with honourary roles within YAN, including, Dr. Fauziya Ado Buhari (National Matron), Amb. Yerima Shettima, Barr. Gloria Ibrahim, Mr. Shedrack Luka (State Patrons), Prof. Adamu Aliyu Gwarzo, Hon. Aminu Suleiman (North West Regional Patrons) and Hon. Bashar Aliyu Bello (North West Regional Adviser).

Others are, Hon. Sakina Garba, Hon. John Dibal, Hon. Yusuf Amoke, Hon. Tessy Tukson, Barr. Bashir Abdullahi and Hon. Bamas Maidawa Bako (State Advisers).

In addition, YAN recognized several outstanding individuals across the North West with the Ambassador of Peace Award for their invaluable contributions to peacebuilding, youth empowerment, and community development. Awardees include: Hon. Sani Kila, Maj. M. Galadima, Tpl. Fanda Zichat, Hon. Daniel Amos, Hon. Kabir Jarumi, Mubarak Ladan, Hon. Larai Sylvia Ishaku, Hon. Mubarak Shehu Ladan, Hon. Naymarie Musa Akande, Hon. Amina Sani Bello, Hon. Shuaibu Kabir Bello, Hon. Dr. Amos Gwamna Magaji and Haj. Habiba Muhammad, among others.

A key highlight of the event was the swearing-in of the newly elected officials of the Kaduna State Chapter of YAN, who will pilot the affairs of the Assembly at the state level.

The officials include, Rt. Hon. Hassan John (Speaker), Mathias Jerald (Deputy Speaker), Kabiru Muhammad Idris (Majority Leader), Tafida Musa (Deputy Majority Leader), Nafisat M. Nasir (Clerk), Shiradi Gloria Simon (Minority Leader) and Godiya Adamu (Deputy Minority Leader).

Others are, Abubakar Bala (Chief Whip), Ibrahim Knock (Deputy Chief Whip), Amina Naziru (Senator, Zone 1), Ahmad Umar (Senator, Zone 2) and Tasha Danladi (Senator, Kaduna South).

The Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to advancing youth participation in governance, strengthening civil-military relations, and fostering unity across the Northwest.

The Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN) called on all stakeholders to continue working together for a safer, more peaceful, and prosperous region where young people play a central role in shaping the future.
